Frequently Asked Questions

What is tube laser cutting, and how does it differ from other cutting methods?

Tube laser cutting uses high power laser to cut directly through many types of metal, this type of cutting is precise and efficient. Different to traditional methods of cutting which may be inaccurate laser cutting offers a high level of precision and versatility. It allows for complex shapes and designs with minimal heat, resulting in high-quality finished products.

What types of materials can be used for tube laser cutting?

The materials that we usually handle when cutting tube are aluminium, mild steel and stainless-steel tube. These materials are commonly used in industries such as automotive, aerospace, construction, and manufacturing. However, should you have your own tube stock that you’re looking to supply in a different metal please speak to us.

What are the advantages of tube laser cutting compared to traditional cutting methods?

Laser cutting is high precision, has very fast processing times, reduced material waste and the ability to handle many different metal thicknesses and types. Laser cutting also has minimal heat soak on parts which reduces warping.

How does tube laser cutting minimise material waste?

Laser cutting reduces material waste by optimising the part layout on the raw material maximising the use of the tube. Also dues to its extremely thin beam the lasers kerf is extremely narrow meaning less material is wasted. Laserfab also recycle all waste material as part of our goals to be a greener company.

What should be considered when costing tube laser cutting services?

The cost of your laser cutting project will be broken into 3 main parts, material, cutting time & finishing. You will be charge for the tube metal stock that is required to complete your order, by the hour charges on the laser cutting itself and finally if you need to have your parts finished either by rock tumbling or painting there will be additional costs involved.

Can tube laser cutting be used for both prototyping and production quantities?

Yes, tube laser cutting is suitable for both prototyping and production quantities. It offers flexibility in handling small batch sizes or large-volume production runs, making it ideal for various industries and applications.
